Nottingham Children’s Book Award 2021

This will be the 20th year that we have been running the Nottingham Children’s Book Award. For under 5’s across the city, it aims to foster a love of books and reading as library staff and families read three stories and children vote for their favourite.

The three shortlisted books:

We are so excited to announce that the three shortlisted books for the 2021 award are:

  • Pug Hug by Zehra Hicks, published by Hachette Children’s Books
  • This is Crab by Harriet Evans and Jacqui Lee, published by Caterpillar Books
  • Bad Cat! By Nicola O’Byrne, published by Nosy Crow

The award will run from 4 October until 6 December with the winner announced on 13 December.

How to take part:

Families – You can watch videos of the stories being read and vote using the form below, or you can read the stories in your local library and vote there. (Ask library staff for more details).

Schools and nurseries – You can watch the videos online and vote with your class or arrange a visit from a member of library staff. Email charlotte.blount@nottinghamcity.gov.uk for more details.
