Many of the services provided by libraries come at no cost, including membership and book borrowing. For details on any associated charges, fees, discounts, or exemptions, please refer to the information provided below.

Our fines amnesty for Nottingham City Library members on books issued in the city libraries continues until further notice, if your item is late we will not charge you. It is still best to return your books and other items by the date due or renew them, another person may have reserved the book and be waiting for it.

Reservations (holds) are also free until further notice, charges will appear on your library account but are automatically cleared overnight.

You can renew your loans before the due date: online via the Library catalogue or at any Nottingham or Nottinghamshire library, in person or by phone.

Lost track of time?

Receive free reminders by email or text when your loans are nearly due, just ask the libraries team to sign you up.

Until further notice Nottingham City Library members can reserve items, free of charge, online via the Library catalogue, in person or by phone at any Nottingham City or Inspire (Notts County) library. The normal charge of £0.30p per item will appear on your account and then be cleared automatically overnight by the system.

Please note that charges may be different for Inspire (Nottinghamshire County libraries) and it is always best to check their website.

Inter-Library Loans: Stock not available in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire libraries that is borrowed via another UK library are £6 per item. This is not included in the free reservations offer.
