Home Library Service
Unable to visit the library?
The Home Library Service (HLS) is free and delivers library books across Nottingham City to customers who are unable to get to their local library for reasons such as:
- Limited mobility
- Caring responsibilities
How to access the HLS
Please get in touch to tell us about your needs and what you like to read. We will then arrange deliveries for you approximately every 4 weeks. Email us email@example.com or ring Aspley Library on 0115 9152806.
The service is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who have continued to operate throughout the COVID pandemic. Our HLS volunteers really make a difference to our customers daily lives.
We have two roles for the HLS — either volunteering as a driver to deliver books or as a library-based volunteer helping to sort, store and re-shelve books that are returned. If you would like to support this valuable service, we will be recruiting in the autumn, please visit our volunteering page.
“During the COVID pandemic I felt lost without having library books and then a friend mentioned the Home Library Service. I did not hesitate to join and it’s great that the books of my choice are delivered to me in person. At present my sleeping pattern is upside down and I am often awake in the early hours, so instead of tossing and turning, now I open a book. A good book acts like a friend and I feel that I am not alone”
