Write Queer Zine

Write Queer Collection – Issue 3 Launch

Nottingham Central Library is proud to be hosting Write Queer’s 3rd Zine Launch!

Join for a fabulous celebration of diversity and creativity with the launch of Write Queer Collection – Issue 3!

The event will feature performances from contributors, food and refreshments, socialising and the opportunity to buy a copy of the new collection.

Write Queer organiser Richard Gidlow said:

“The zine started because we really wanted to get our work out there, but we weren’t ready to approach a traditional publisher. So we decided to do it ourselves.”

That DIY approach has become an important part of Write Queer’s identity. The group’s first collection was crowdfunded to cover printing costs, while the second issue expanded submissions beyond regular Write Queer members, including contributions from outside the UK.

This event is open to anyone who wishes to join us and celebrate our incredible local writers!

About Write Queer:

Write Queer is an LGBTQ+ writing group based at Nottingham Central Library, providing a supportive space for LGBTQ+ writers and allies to develop their creative writing, meet other writers and share their work. The group was founded in 2022 and now runs regular in-person sessions at Nottingham Central Library alongside online sessions. Its workshops welcome writers at all stages, from people writing for the first time to more experienced writers developing existing projects. Write Queer’s approach is built around respect, openness, creativity and encouragement, with the emphasis on creating a welcoming, judgement-free environment.
