World Photography Day 2026
Pinhole Camera workshops and exhibition with Alan Withington
Join us to celebrate World Photography Day!
This year, we are delighted to be working with local photographer, Alan Withington, who will deliver some pinhole camera workshops and have an exhibition of his artwork at the Nottingham Central Library. Alan is showcasing a variety of pinhole and alternative photography that he has taken over his 20+ year career.
We are honoured for Alan to be sharing his expertise in alternative photography with our communities, during his pinhole camera workshops. In these sessions, you’ll learn how to make your own pinhole camera and capture photographs in a completely sustainable way using recycled materials. All materials for these sessions are provided for, and the session is free.
These sessions are run in the lead-up to Alan’s exhibition for World Photography Day, so make sure you secure your place for a workshop!

About the artist:
Alan Withington is a Nottinghamshire-based photographer whose journey started with analogue cameras. Digital began taking over from film while he was still a young adult.
He has moved through many genres and styles of photography including using lo-fi underdog cameras, pinhole photography and finally to a style that makes him feel at home – ‘alternative processes’.
