Speak Her Name

Stunning embroidery hoops by Rachel Carter, Anisha Parmar, and Ismail Khokon explore and reflect on the global cotton story, the Swadeshi movement in South Asia, and celebrate the resistance, suffering, and successes of women who have shaped our shared histories.

By highlighting the contributions of 100 historic women through intricate and detailed embroidery hoops, the exhibition sheds light on their strength, resilience, and influence in shaping our shared past. This community-led project is part of the broader “Standing In This Place” initiative, which aims to recognise and celebrate often overlooked narratives.

Visit the Exhibition Space on Floor 1 from July to November 2024 to experience these powerful and evocative artworks. Learn more about the project and Rachel Carter’s impactful sculptures on our website.
