The opening has been delayed due to unresolved issues with the developer. The Council is actively working to resolve these and has committed funding to complete the works if needed.
Sherwood Library Survey
Have Your Say
We understand how important Sherwood Library is to our local community and we share your frustration that the new library has not yet opened. Please be assured that our priority remains getting the outstanding works completed so the library can open as originally intended.
We are continuing to work with the developers to resolve the issues that have caused delays.
In the meantime, we have launched a six-week survey so you can share your thoughts, and help us decide the best way forward – including whether a temporary pop-up library in Sherwood would be helpful.
At this stage no decision has been made, but options under consideration include:
– Leasing and repurposing a retail unit
– Siting a portable unit in the area
– Exploring access to neighbouring mobile library services
The Sherwood Library survey is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part — we really appreciate your feedback. We’ll share updates and next steps soon.
We want to hear from Sherwood residents about what kind of temporary library service could best meet their needs while the permanent library is being completed.
What you tell us will guide our plans for a possible temporary service and show the level of local support. Responses may also be shared with Full Council to help inform their decision.
We’re looking at several possibilities, including using an empty shop unit, installing a portable unit, or partnering with mobile library services.
This depends on how quickly the permanent library can be completed. The temporary service is intended to re-establish access to library resources while work on the permanent library continues.
Prefer a paper copy?
You can also print your own copy at home if you prefer and return to any of our Libraries during opening hours.
Please return completed surveys to library staff by the 23 October 2025.
