Gallows Hill was for the longest time the main execution site in Nottingham, located where the Church Cemetery entrance is on Mansfield Road. Throughout the 1700s and 1800s a mix of criminals from the city and county met their end here. From the humble thief to the most notorious murderers. How did executions operate there and why did it stop?
