ESOL Courses

These courses are at a pre-ESOL entry-level so are ideal if you are only just starting to learn English.

The course will:

  • Help you to improve your speaking and listening skills using simple English words and sentences
  • Give you the confidence to try short conversations in English
  • Help you to start to read and write by recognising letters and numbers
  • Prepare you for future learning

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

Bulwell Riverside Library

Course Dates: 7 June 2022 – 5 July 2022
Every Tuesday for 5 weeks
Times: 1:00pm to 3:30pm.

This is a course for adults who would like to know more about Microsoft Excel. You will learn how to create an Excel spreadsheet, how to add data to the sheet and use Functions and Formulas to automatically perform calculations, plus create charts from the data. Learners should be able to use a computer, mouse/trackpad and keyboard.

Build a Website using WordPress

Online (Using Zoom)

Course Start: 23 June 2022 – 28 July 2022
Every Thursday for 6 Weeks
Times: 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Join us for a FREE practical hands-on session about websites. No coding experience is required but you should be comfortable using computers and the web.

Keeping Everyone Safe

So that you and your tutor can feel safe, we will offer hand sanitiser and you will be in a room where social distancing can be maintained. You will be using a library laptop or PC, the equipment and the room will be cleaned ready for use. We will be following the current Government guidance on COVID; your tutor will keep in contact with you regarding any changes.

Important information:

For a free place on any of the courses you must be:

  • a Nottingham City resident aged 19 or over AND
  • Unemployed and in receipt of benefits OR  are job seeking / working and earning below £17,374.50 annual gross salary AND
  • Have lived in the UK or an EU country continuously for the last three years by the first day of the course*

*Learners who haven’t lived in the UK or EU for the required three years are still eligible if they meet selected criteria, please get in touch NCCLibraries@nottinghamcity.gov.uk This criteria is set by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
