Candlestick Press Launch: Ten Poems about Libraries
Monday 26 February
6:30pm to 9pm
‘Libraries are treasured places. We may remember visiting a local library in childhood to explore an early delight in reading. Or perhaps we have come to value them in later life, as a calm sanctuary where we can daydream among beloved books’
Join us for the launch of Ten Poems about Libraries, published by Candlestick Press. The poems are selected and introduced by poet Lorraine Mariner who has worked at the National Poetry Library in London for many years and who will be reading at the event.
Other readers include contributing poets Adrian Buckner and Claire Crowther, as well as members of local poetry group, Gobs Collective.
Poet, Adrian Buckner was the editor of Poetry Nottingham, renamed Assent, from 2004-2013, and has published four poetry collections, including Bed Time Reading (2011) and Contains Mild Peril (2008).
Claire Crowther has published a number of pamphlets and full-length poetry collections. She was Poet in Residence at the Royal Mint Museum from 2014-15 and her resulting pamphlet Bare George was published in 2016.
