Becoming a Voice Artist
With audiobook narrator and voice artist Charlie Sanderson, as part of HiVis 2026.
How stories are brought to life.
As part of HiVis fortnight, Nottingham Central Library is overjoyed to present audiobook narrator and voice artist Charlie Sanderson, giving us an insight into their narration career.
Charlie Sanderson, the voice for bestselling author Rosie Goodwin, and Katie Kirby’s Lottie Brooks series, gives a talk on her journey to becoming a voice artist; from working as a community artist and youth facilitator in the schools and communities of Mansfield, Leicester, Nottingham and Derby to performing on the West End and Broadway in NY.
Charlie talks us through her often funny and unique lifestyle as a storyteller, actress and creative. The talk will explain how audiobooks are brought to life and illustrate how a working-class girl from the Midlands ended up on stages in the West End and Broadway playing lead female. This talk will offer inspiration to any budding writers, storytellers and anyone who is interested in how stories are brought to life. If you’re up for a good yarn, and a bit of giggling book a ticket.

A Message from Charlie:
“The world needs more diverse stories and storytellers, every person’s voice matters, it is my mission to help as many people from as many different walks of life as possible to find their unique voice and empower them to get out there and tell their stories.
We have been telling stories since the dawn of time, finding true connections with one another through creativity and storytelling. Our humanity, our grief, our everyday miracles, our loves and our losses can bring us together in a conflicted and fragmented world. Never underestimate the power of stories or your personal ability to be creative and make art, poetry, prose, music and true connections.”
